Both on Sunday and today my run has not uploaded to Garmin other than to show Steps. Runs between these dates have uploaded.

Both on Sunday and today (Wednesday) my runs on new routes have not uploaded to Garmin although they are on History of Forerunner 35 watch. Strangely, the Steps have been uploaded. Also, runs on Monday and Tuesday (on previously used routes) have uploaded in full.

  • Forerunner 35 watch

This device has a history of issues with corrupt files. To see if these activity (FIT files) are corrupt, try a manual upload to Garmin Connect Web.

How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please attach it to this thread. We can take a look to see if it is repairable.

    • Zip the file, then in a reply post Insert >> Image/video/file >> click Upload >> browse for file >> OK.
    • Or upload the fit file to a file sharing service, such as OneDriveGoogle DriveDropbox, etc., make the file public, then paste a link to the file in your post.
  • Unfortunately this doesn’t help as it involves needing to use a computer. I just have an I-pad. The watch usually works fine so don’t know why there’s been two issues this week but some activities still working.

  • If you look at the Forerunner 35 forum, it is full of posts from users requesting to repair fit files. If you've had success until now, I would say you've been lucky. In most cases we are able to fix these corrupt files for you, but we would need the fit files from your watch. This would require a computer of some sort (Mac or Windows). Also, in order to maintain properly the Forerunner 35 and to get the files off of the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder, to repair corrupt files, and to minimize future issues.

If obtaining, even temporarily, a computer is not possible, and losing the 2 activities forever won't be the end of the world, I would suggest at least resetting the watch as mentioned below. No guarantees this will prevent any future issues, but it could help.

    From a previous post:

Some suggestions to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files on a Forerunner 35

    • Avoid pressing stop or pause during an activity
    • Sync your watch, backup the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder, then do a full master reset of your Forerunner 35 using these directions - Restoring All Default Settings
    • Perform a weekly cleanup of the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities to Free Up Space. The F35 seems to have problems with longer activities, so this step is important before a longer event
    • Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express

Let us know when you encounter corrupted files again
