When incorporating indoor running into my strength workout, why cant I log distances?

I typically do a strength circuit with 1/8 mile sprints on an indoor track between each set.  I cant find a way to enter the distance for the sprint lap.  It seems like only reps is the option. I have a Vivoactive 4, but that doesn't seem to matter it is a limitation of Garmin Connect.  Here is the sample below.

  • Strength is not designed for running. I would suggest to use the Multisport activity that is designed for combining multiple sports, but you'd need a different watch for that, since Vivoactive 4 does not support this feature. You can still record it as two separate activities: strength + indoor track.

Edit: you could also use the the Connect IQ data field app tx Activity STEPS (self promotion) - it will add the distance calculated with the help of the avg. stride length to the laps as well as to the totals in the Activity stats in Garmin Connect. It would work even in the Strength workouts.

  • Thank you for the info!  I  will check out the app you reference.
