how do I compensate data when using betablockers . Reducing HR data?

  1. How I best chose to interpret HR reading when uding Betablockers ( Persc. by medic.);)
  2. Do I subtract or add any value to indicated HR?
  3. Regards! From Sweden
  • This is what Garmin tells about beta-blockers in the article HRM-Dual | Garmin Support Center

Medicine (such as beta-blockers) and medical devices (such as pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators) could potentially interfere with HRM readings. Consult a physician regarding this and discuss solutions.

That's probably the best way to know how to compensate the readings you get. Seeking advices on a user forum for medical issues could result in troubles. Only the physician knows your conditions, why he prescribed you the beta-blockers, which doses, and other circumstances. That's not something to get advices about from other users. Even if some of them may be using beta-blockers too, their conditions may differ from yours significantly.

  • I was researching this also in the past and found a formula online that my doctor also agreed with , it brings my Max HR down to 130.  Or even if you can email your doctor for advise on what your training max should be around.

  • Hi ,

I had a aorta dissection A a year ago. Before that I had a Zone 2 between 135-143 bpm. My suggested new working HR should be 135 bpm … blocked, that is. So what’s 135 bpm equal to in the Garmin world ? 145 bpm?  So fare I have used the Borg scale as reference (backup ;) . Borg 5-6 Max,  appears to equal. 135bpm.
