Garmin Connect (version 4.62) stopped syncing steps to Apple Health

Since the latest update of Garmin Connect (4.62), it no longer synchronizes steps to Apple Health. I tried restarting the application, restarting iPhone, and reinstalling the application - but none of these solved the issue. Is anyone else seeing something similar?

Garmin - if you're listening, your advice/solution would be greatly appreciated.

  • The problem was somehow solved after I took the watch off my hand and charged it for a while. When I put it back on, Garmin Connect started to update Google Health again. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence.

  • Agreed, claims were made in other threads in this particular forum that this latest release of the app resolve all of the issues with syncing. This IS NOT TRUE. From my careful daily observation of the behaviour the app made zero difference to the syncing, before the update the syncing was random, after the update the syncing is random. So I will do what I do every day it doesn’t work, I will disable the motion and fitness thing, go into the listing of devices that are in steps, slide Connect down a few, sync in the app several times, swipe it and Health out of the app switcher, sync some more, re-enable the motion and fitness thing and hope. Doing this enough times gets the steps in eventually but it is such a colossal waste of time. What logs or details does Garmin need from me or screen recordings of my process to get this fixed once and for all because it’s getting really really stale now?

  • To be clear, the last update seems to have changed things. But for the worse.
Now the move ring doesn’t seem to fill up at all. And when I check the Health app, the data written there seems to suggest it’s corrupted somehow.
    Please fix it

  • Since the update my active calories tracking has been seeing the same error every day.  Garmin Connect will upload multiple entries of 128 calories at 10:20 and multiple entries of 243 calories at 14:41.

I did notice it stopped making double entries for resting calories.

  • I am having the same issue after the most recent Garmin Connect (GC) app update.
My observation is that GC is only sending calorie data to Apple on Run and Walk activities.
in my case, GC does not send my cycling activities data over to Apple like it used to.

Hope Garmin can fix this soon

  • Same problem with my  GARMIN Instinct Solar on iOS 16.2.
Neither the Calories from the Activities (447 + 188) or the full amount of Calories (632) will be syncing to the Healt app since the update January 4th. Version 4.62
    Kind regards Paul

  • Infuriating, have spent so much time trying to get it to work and sick to death of reinstalling the app. Garmin: this is an ecosystem of which the Apple apps are a big part for many of us. Please dive back in like you had been before and engage with your customers. As I said the other day: I am more than happy to help, i will take test versions of Garmin Connect for iOS every day if needed and blow the consequences because it literally cannot be any worse than it is now. Make a fix, drop it in Test Flight and send me the link, I exercise with the watch 7 days a week

  • I have the exact same issue, cycling activity data does show up in Apple health, but has no impact on activity rings.

  • I have the same issue with cycling activities shown but no activity update for the rings. Stopped working when latest version installed.

  • Hello there.

For me the issue is with active calories, and therefore Health Move/Activitiy ring not filling up.

Other metrics populates just fine, steps included.

My experience is that the first value pushed by Connect in Health for the day, is not updated and shifted forth at every sync.

Resting calories are updated just fine and reflect Connect values.

Workouts are shown correctly except for the pace, which is always 0 in Health.

Afree last update on 4th Jan 2023, I have experienced a weird behaviour in Fitness/Health for a few days: upon receiving the goal completion notification, after a workout, checking into Health and Fitness apps the move ring was reflecting GC data, until next update when the move ring was set back to a previous value.

    No stone was left unturned.

Yes, GC is the top data source.

Yes, already tried to restart watch (fénix 6 Pro), phone, apps, many times.

Yes, already uninstalled and reinstalled GC, also re-paired watch.
