Intensity minutes disappeared from Garmin connect ‘my day’ page.

Using Vivoactive 3 and Garmin Connect on iPhone. I intensity minutes have disappeared from the app and I can’t see on my watch either. I have tried to deselect/select in the edit my day function but this did not work. The phone and watch are up to date and sync fine. Thanks

  • The panel will appear only if you already have some IM this week (starting on Monday). Verify the count of IM in Garmin Connect Web at https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily-summary/2022-12-20/intensityMinutes

  • Thanks. I checked it and I have no intensity minutes logged since Monday. However I definitely had some yesterday (Monday) with a 1200 metre swim and 2 hours of squash. So it must be a tracking issue with the watch?

Logging an activity does not necessarily mean you earned some Intensity Minutes. Anyway, Vivoactive 3 does not support Intensity Minutes at swimming at all. Only Vivoactive 4 does (see the article How Are Intensity Minutes Earned? | Garmin Support). So you did not have any swimming IMs, that's sure. As for the squash - it depends on the HR, and on your current Resting HR.

Check out the IM on your watch - if there are none either, then the HR was not sufficiently elevated during the squash activity. If they are on the watch, but not in your Garmin Connect account, then they were not synced, and you will have to troubleshoot the syncing.

  • Thanks. That makes sense. I check heart rate zones for squash and only had a few minutes of zone 3, which probably explains it. It felt a lot tougher than it was. I thought IM woild just show as zero if there were none recorded, rather than not show up at all.

  • With Vivoactive 3 you need at least 10 continuous minutes (with no interruption) with the HR above ~150% of your 7 days avg. Resting HR (or perhaps some 30-40% of your HR Reserve).

The app shows only active panels (having some data). However, you can always check the data through the menu. In case of IM, it is in the section Activities. And, as written previously, also in GC Web, and directly on your watch.
