GPS stops during a run

Dear all,

I have an issues with my GPS since while running, it seems the signal can be lost for 30 sec. Of course the time is still rolling, affecting my average pace.

it happened like 3 times during my last run.

the satellites were well acquired at the very beginning. It was GPS only but I never had this issue with my FR35 or FR945.

Thanks for your help.

  • Your activity is private so we can't look at it.

  • it seems the signal can be lost for 30 sec.

In which part of the run exactly did it happen? On the first look on the activity map. I do not see any gaps or apparent errors.

  • Both at the beginning (1.4kms) and the end (46 min - 8kms)

you don’t see it on the map you can see it on the pace (like if I was walking or stopped)

  • There is no GPS problem as far as I see. Your pace just dropped down, possibly because you were crossing a road with traffic. At the km 1.4 it is exactly for 6 seconds (11:05 to 11:11), and at the end for 4 seconds (44:08 - 44:12). I see nowhere a 30s drop.

  • I don't really see any GPS drops either. The first one is you crossing big roads. Did you run over them or did you make any stops while crossing?

At 46 minutes it could be due to the higher buildings and narrow streets. Do you have multi GNSS enabled?

Do you have auto pause enabled? It can cause odd behaviour around high buildings when the GPS signals are blocked or reflected. It is better to turn it off.

  • No because if you look at it well, there are kms at 8:00 min/km while I was still running at the same pace. It was not about crossing a road and auto pause things unfortunately. I was well stopping the chrono while I was crossing.

I will wait for a Garmin helper for that issue. Thanks for the help

  • Where you running when you pressed stop and did you start to run before you pressed start again? If not then that explains the drop in speed.

If you need to contact Garmin you should primarily contact Garmin Support. There is also a chance that you can get in contact with Garmin in the device forum, but don't count on that. This is not that big of an issue and there are possible explainations here like you pressed stopped which affects the logging and there are high buildings where you ran.
