Connect is double counting when reporting active kcals to Apple Health kit. There's no workaround. This is definitely an issue on Garmin's side. I read somewhere in these forums that support is responding that Apple is polling data from Connect, which is simply not true.
Active calories as reported in Garmin connect:
Calories from the sole exercise on the same day:
Active calories reported on Apple health kit is the sum of the two: (213 + 268 = 481):
In this instance, I've given Connect only permissions to write active calories to Health Kit and not work outs. I was hoping that that's a work around, but no.... It does that by adding both workout and active calories that it records.
This should be trivial to fix. When reporting active calories to health kit, do not add the workout calories!
I bought my watch with an advertised integration with Apple Health Kit. Scrolling these forums shows that none of the bugs of the integration are getting fixed for months, which seems like a deliberate choice at least in terms of resource allocation.
Is this just false advertising?
It's even worse as Garmin supports direct integration only with my fitness pal which is a very mediocre nutrition app. I assume that weight control is a big driver for getting a sports watch.
