Intensity minutes are not recorded outside an activity

Since last week, my Forerunner 55 only records intensity minutes during activities. I’ve been walking briskly and biking to places with the HR reaching 120+ bpm for 15-20 minutes at a time, without recording an activity. Previously both steps and intensity minutes were recorded, now the intensity minutes are not. I don’t always necessarily want (to remember) to register an activity when walking or biking around if it’s not for sports.

    Here is an example from today. The HR has been in zone 1-2 for about 30 minutes. Yet, the intensity minutes graph shows nothing.

  • Yes, the data shows the HR sufficiently high to have some Intensity Minutes awarded. FR55 does not even require the 10 continuous consecutive minutes anymore, as it was necessary earlier, and since your Resting HR is 50 bpm, the IMs should start counting at around 80 bpm (if you use the default mode for the IM).

    Please verify the setting of the IM mode in the device settings » Activity Tracking » Weekly Intensity Minutes. If it uses the HR Zones, instead of the default mode, then perhaps the zones are set too high. If that is not the case, then I'd check the FR55 forum, whether other owners of that model have the same issue too - that would mean there is a bug in the last firmware version.

    First of all, I'd try to hard-reset the watch (hold the Light button for ~20s till it shuts down), and see whether it helps.

    After resetting the watch, installing another update, manually setting HR zones for intensity minutes.. Still same problem as of today. Also no luck in finding someone in the F55 forum with the exact same issue (though there seem to be a few in the “intensity minutes” category). Guess I’ll have to be patient and keep recording unnecessary activities Shrug tone1
