new garmin instinct: I began the day with 450 resting calories. I did yoga for 50 minutes with a calculated burn of 180 cal. The result was 500 resting calories and 83 active, which means 47 calories are not accounted for. What is up?

Yes, strange indeed. I suggest contacting the Support.
Could you just post also the break down of the activity Calories to Resting and Active? It is on the second tab (the paper sheet icon), and you have to scroll quite far down. Just to see whether it is just the active part that is not accounted for, or not.
Yes, it is especially the Active Calories that are missing in the totals after the activity (32). In contrary, there is 5 Resting Calories too much in the activity, which is also strange, unless the first photo was done after the start of the activity, or the second one before the end.
So, I have been experimenting with turning off different features on the instinct, and long story short, removing the pulse ox widget has corrected the calorie counts--now the math adds up.
I still contacted support though because it would be nice to utilize all features
