Is there a way of resetting my heart rate status as my training is showing strained. It’s not changed with gentle exercise. My pre operation HR was around 40 now it’s 52 minimum as my base heart rate has been elevated artificially by a pacemaker.

If you mean the 7-days average Resting HR, then it will adjust automatically within a few days. It measures your lowest 30 min average during the day, and then averages the last 7 days. No need for resetting it.
However, pacemakers and medicine can interfere with HRM readings: My Heart Rate Monitor Strap is Reporting Erratic Data | Garmin Customer Support
Medicine (such as beta-blockers) and medical devices (such as pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators) could potentially interfere with HRM readings. Consult a physician regarding this and discuss solutions.

Hi
It’s the HRV status and training status that are abysmal. I wear my Fénix pretty much most of the time.
i was wondering if the higher paced HR was the reason why it’s showing as strained?
Do I have to totally reset it?
The “discuss with physician” is always standard advice but there doesn’t appear to be any consensus within the local team. They are very used to elderly PM patients. The post operation advice for someone who is athletic (allegedly ;)) is a bit weak and feels like opinion rather than evidence based.
Well, I am not physician, so do not take my comments too seriously, but on my mind when your heart is controlled by a pacemaker, I'd tell it has also a great impact on the HR Variability. I am not sure what part of the HRV can still come from your body, and to which extent it rather comes from the pacemaker. It may also greatly depend on the pacemaker type, brand, settings, and the mode it is working in. Although there are some documents on that topic available online, it is not quite straightforward, so consulting a specialist may be indeed the best. I'd suspect that the pace maker would flatten the HRV anyway, and hence your watch will detect high stress. I may be wrong, though.
That makes sense the HR has lost its variability so will remain higher as a resting rate, looks like the garmin sees this as not recovering. I do know many physicians due to my job. They are not at all clued up (and why should they) on PM athletic performance and garmin sensors .
I wondered if other Garmin users had noted effects pre and post op?
I will try a reset I think
on reading further I will wait for four weeks post my restart and to see if it resets, I don’t know if it’s a ‘rolling’ four weeks or the HRV is set after the first four weeks
thanks
I had pacemaker implanted 2 and a half weeks ago and my FR255 immediately began giving body battery, sleep, stress and hrv readings that were grossly out of line with historical data. For example, since the pacemaker, my body battery has not been over 30 any morning and there have been 3 or 4 times when the Garmin reported that I had not slept at all. I reset the device yesterday, so we'll see what happens. If no correction, I may opt for a device without health features rather than spend $500 for the FR265.

I am afraid that you won't find any device giving you HRV-based health data when you have a pace maker implanted. If you have no use for the remaining functionality of your smart watch, then you may indeed look for something else instead.
NCSH - Wondering if you found a solution to this? I just had one implanted and am now having the same issues that you described. Did you need to do a hard reset? If so, were you able to keep all the historical data on Garmin Connect?
I did a Hard Reset with mixed results. I do get Body Battery, HRV and occasional Sleep data, but I have no confidence in these readings. Historical data was retained on Connect. Incidentally, I got a Coros HR monitor as it measures HR optically, so my reasoning was that this was safer than a chest strap. The results I get with this monitor during running are more consistent with those that I experienced before all my heart issues began surfacing a couple years ago.
Thanks for the info! I will try a hard reset and see what happens. I have the Forerunner 245, which measures HR from the back of the watch face. So far HR seems to be accurate, but everything with HRV seems to be off.

The pacemaker changes your HRV artificially, and hence any metrics based on HRV cannot work for people using a pacemaker.
From the article Will My Optical Heart Rate Sensor Be Accurate if I Have a Pacemaker or ICD? | Garmin Customer Support
Watches that use Heart Rate Variability (HRV) may not be able to accurately calculate that data or related metrics if you have a pacemaker, ICD, or other heart condition.
