many yoga positions missing In Garmin Connect

There are many yoga positions missing in the selection list. If i want to edit a yoga training in Garmin Connect, only positions from the list can neither be selected. For example, butterfly (Bhadrasana)
Is ist possible to enter individual positions manually or does Garmin need to add the list?

  • I agree.  I had the same issue a few months ago. I think Garmin should hire a certified yoga instructor should go over the existing list, correct the names of the poses, and add new ones.  So many are missing. That would be helpful when creating your own workouts. I created my own yoga workout whilst testing the workout feature. Not only was it extremely time consuming, but I also noticed that so many basic poses like butterfly where either missing, or not using proper yoga terminology.

The function would be suitable for Astanga yoga which always follows the poses in a certain sequence. Actually, it would be nice feature if Garmin provided a pre-set workout for the Astanga Yoga practice, i.e. half primarily, full primary, secondary.  It’s just a thought.

Moreover, I think the statistics provided for yoga after one has completed a session are very strange. The summary oddly states number of poses during the workout, rather than more useful information. In order to see the number of poses users are required to record poses manually by pressing a button every time one enters a new pose. This unwelcomed distraction is ridiculous! In a many yoga styles the practice flows from one pose to another.  It is a moving meditation of one breath per movement (albeit length of breath varies, as does the number of breaths for some poses). In any case, the average yoga practice has a lot of poses, one can not be expect to constantly fiddle with the device.  The function would also be a distraction in practices like Yin Yoga where poses are traditionally held longer.  Quite simply it’s a bad idea. Whoever came up with it obviously does not practice yoga.  Garmin should really consult with yoga professionals to get this right.

What is more important than number of poses is the heart rate.  Showing the average heart rate is fine, as is the heart rate high, but what about displaying the lowest.  Polar provides this useful feature in its yoga profile. As well one can show beginning heart rate or stress levels with end heart rate or stress levels at the end.

Instead of showing number of poses in the Garmin connect summary, why not show calories as in other sport profiles.

Garmin please do something about this in a future update.
