Blocked Or faked watch ?

Hi I have a seller refurbished venu . It's completelly functional (GPS but not accurate , HR sensor, etc.) except for one thing: I can't connect to my smartphone or to my computer. In computer, when I try to add to Garmin Express, I get the error "venu - Serial Number: Unit ID: 333…… , Can't add this device because our servers are unavailable at this moment". The smartphone finds the watch, prompts for the bluetooth security code, it connects, and when trying to pair then watch ( Garmin Connect ) shows "Pairing error". I have contacted support by chat, we did a lot of things with no luck. The I continued investigating and found an strage thing: if I enter the serial number or the device ID at support page, it shows the error "We don't recognize that product"..... Maybe the problem is the ID not found and Garmin servers? Is that possible? I bought it from eBay , I can reach the seller as he did not respond to messages, can not return it

Please I want to know is it stolen or lost and blocked or another problem

  • Check in the device menu » System » About, whether it is not an APAC version (Asia Pacific). APAC devices should connect to the standard Garmin's apps too, but if it was previously registered in China, they use different domains for the apps - garmin.cn (their government wants to keep a close control/censorship of the data, and does not want their people to share their activities with the rest of the world). So perhaps the device could be somehow bound to that domain. Performing the master reset to factory defaults (and choosing to delete ALL data, if asked) might help.

Otherwise, in your place, I'd contact the Support again, and would ask them directly whether the device was reported stolen or lost.

.. and if nothing helps, file a complaint at eBay - normally you should be insured against fraudulent transactions, and they should give you a refund, if you really cannot make it work with Garmin apps, and Garmin's support cannot help you either.

  • there is no APAC word in the setting
