Connect v4.58 is sucking all my battery

I installed v4.58 yesterday, along with iOS 15.6.1.  I left my iPhone 12 Pro Max sitting on my bedside at ~56% charge, woke up and it was at ~21%.  Usage chart shows Connect was the culprit.  I've also entered a review on the App Store.  I've found the app to be great, but this problem needs to be fixed ASAP.  I've tried rebooting the phone, will see if that helps.  Otherwise I'll have to disable background for Connect, and have to re-enable it whenever its needed...what a pain.

  • Reboot seems to have resolved the problem...

  • I've noticed something similar since version 4.57 I think. Every few nights it happens that GCM is too reactive in the background and drains the battery.

  • Same, but reboots don't do anything for me. If I leave location settings to Always, my battery gets destroyed. If I change it to While Using the App, then it's normal. But then I miss out on the benefits of having up-to-date weather data on my watch, which I like. Unacceptable battery drain though.

  • Reboots do nothing.  The massive Garmin Connect iOS app battery drain issue has been going on for months.  I reported it here in January.  Nothing has been done.  I did call Garmin support by phone recently to raise the issue and submit diagnostics.  They say this is a known issue and that they are working on a solution, but no estimated completion date was given.  I would advise all encountering this Garmin Connect iOS app battery drain issue to contact customer support and raise the issue with them directly, rather than simply post it here, because posting it here is not going to result in any action.
