Phantom Intensity Minutes

Overnight, whilst I wasn’t wearing my Fenix 6 watch, close to 300 intensity minutes were added. I’ve seen a lot of posts about activities not being recognised as IM but not many issues about phantom IM. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Also, there have been no corresponding phantom activities for me to delete, so I can’t get rid of it.

Intensity Minutes are in no way bound to activities. They only depend on your heart rate, and the avg Resting Heart Rate on give day. If you post a graph of the HR for given day (and the night), and the value of the Resting HR for that same day, then we can perhaps see where the Intensity Minutes come from.

  • You’re right, there is a corresponding high heart rate from midnight to 4am, however I wasn’t wearing my watch at the time as it was the middle of the night! I don’t know why my watch picked up heart rate activity.

Yes, strange indeed. It probably picked some pulsating signal from the environment, but it should not be happening. According to their document Why Does My Watch Detect a Heart Rate Reading While It Is Not Being Worn? it can happen for a few seconds, but not during several hours.

In your place I'd contact the Support, and ask about that. In the meantime, I'd recommend to disable the HRM when you do not wear the watch (you can define a hotkey for that purpose).Unless you find out that someone borrowed your watch while you were sleeping, and had a wild night with it Rofl

  • Appreciate your responses, thanks. Certainly is a mystery!
