Bad sync behavior in latest version 4.55.1.2

After installing the latest version 4.55.1.2, when I initiate a sync from the watch (Epix on v8.21) it tries to use the phone instead of wifi even if the app is not running on the phone, and will eventually fail.

If I power off the phone (on iOS 15.5) it acts like it should and sync via wifi as first choice.

  • After installing the latest version 4.55.1.2

It does not really seem to be related to the app update, if you tell you see the behavior even without the app running (unless it runs in the background), but wouldn't turning off the Bluetooth on the watch be sufficient, instead of shutting down the phone? You can even define a hot-key for enabling/disabling the BT on the watch.

  • No, I want bluetooth on for notifications.

But now after a phone restart the sync do succeed, although it takes longer via the phone instead of wifi that it used to preffer.

I can live with the above, but now the watch also auto-uploads activities using the phone, and that I really want to be in control of! And I can't find any option to disable that, only for wifi?

    Any ideas someone?

(the Epix is now on v8.32)

    Edit: same in beta v8.35

  • Actually, today all is back to normal again without me changing anything? At home this morning the watch did a sync using WiFi when I initiated one, and this mornings bike commute did not auto upload, so all is back to how I want it. Could it have been some back end issue, or something in the watch download queue that inititaded on bluetooth and kept that channel open?

I always close GCM when not in use, notifications work anyway so I don't need it running all days, and I get to decide when to sync/upload, not the watch.
