VO2 Max and Training Status NOT UPDATING and disappeared from dashboard front page AGAIN

The latest VO2 max score I have is dated 2 May, today is 26 May.

The lastest Training Status I have is 15 May.

Also they are no longer available on the front page of my dashboard (iphone 6).  I used to be able to access them from the same dashboard area as Heart Rate and Steps etc, they've disappeared.

I believe they disappeared after a recent app update. Not the first time this has happened.

  • What do you see in the watch? The watch is the source to the data. Garmin Connect only shows what is sent to it.

Why you don't have any training status is because you haven't logged any new VO2 max values. You need about 2 VO2 max values per week to keep your training status.

  • Hi Andy. My watch doesn’t give me any dates in the performance fields, so the VO2 max matches the app but there’s no frame of reference without a date.
I train 6 days a week and have never not had data in the 3 years I’ve had the watch.
plus those areas of the dashboard completely disappeared, surely a lack of data would show the charts up to the date the watch stopped collecting data?

as per the photo above, where have the performance stats gone?

  • Then we have to assume that the watch isn't reporting any new values. It is probably not calculating the value.

You can read about the requirements for getting VO2 max values here:
    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=lWqSVlq3w76z5WoihLy5f8

Make sure you do what you need to get a Vo2 max value.
Which activity type are you using?

You should also check that your watch is updated to the latest version and restart it by holding the light button for about 15 seconds until it shuts down.

If that doesn't help you can select Restore Defaults for the activity type you are using.

If nothing helps then do a factory reset of the watch and see if that helps.

  • Thanks. It may be because I’m using ‘trail running’ rather than ‘running’ lately. But it’s odd the charts etc have disappeared off the app rather than just missing data.

  • The cards in My Day will only show if there is data to show.

You can double check that they are not hidden by scrolling down and clicking Edit My Day.

The charts can still be found in the menu.

Indeed. Only some watches calculate the VO₂max at trail running. From the Support document My Recorded Activity Did Not Update My VO2 Max Estimate

NOTE: Support for Trail Run and Ultra Run VO2 max estimates was first made available on the Enduro. With up to date software, this will also be available on the D2 Mach 1, Descent Mk2 series, epix (Gen 2) series, fenix 6 series, fenix 7 series, Forerunner 245 & 245 Music, Forerunner 745, Forerunner 945 & 945 LTE, Instinct 2 series, MARQ Collection, tactix 7 series, and tactix Delta series. Trail Run and Ultra Run VO2 max estimates can be disabled in the activity settings on the watch (refer to your owner's manual for instructions).
