Walking on treadmill not being recorded

When I walk on the treadmill my watch does not record it as a walking activity? The steps are recorded but I want it recorded as a walk. Any advise on how to fix this? I have a vivomove 3s.

Start the Walk Activity at the beginning, and stop it at the end. Edit the activity then in Garmin Connect and enter the distance from the treadmill machine manually.
