course creation - no "freehand" option

During every creation of a course there are paths and roads etc... that GC doesn't recognise, so without freehand its basically impossible to do the course I want. Id very much like this added to the app (I'm on ios).

The edit course function is also very very flaky and it's difficult to really do anything meaningful with it on mobile.

Thanks for raising this, any updates (announced) on this one?

I can't be on my long cycle trip and take my laptop with (even on iPad this isn't supported)! The only way to manage this now is making multiple segments, which doesn't make any sense! It's the most ridiculous thing to not have freehand option with severe consequences...

I recommend using Garmin Connect Web - there are more options, including the freehand mode. And if that is not sufficient, you can also use a 3rd party service. I have good experience with plotaroute.com, which (besides others) can export the Courses in Garmin's native FIT file format, so the course can be uploaded directly to the device.

The web version is good but unusable on a mobile. They need to add the freehand version on the app.
plotaroute is great but again on a mobile it’s not that easy and then you have to export etc.
