Active energy on apple health synced from Garmin

Hello,

It seems that the active energy synced on apple health is not correct:

active_energy_apple_health = active_energy_on_garmin + sum(calories_burned_during_activities_logged_on_garmin)

(1216 ~ 537+332+348 (see screenshots))

=>Which is not correct since the active part of the calories_burned_during_activities_logged_on_garmin is already included in the active_energy_on_garmin.

Why isn't the Garmin simply syncing active_energy_on_garmin as the active energy on apple health ?

  • i read a few months back that creating a new Garmin connect account fixes this issue, do you think that's possible ? I may try it tonight, i know i wont have all my historical data  but it would be nice to have it sync properly to health.

  • So i looks like Strava is the only way to get our rings updated. Does it also show heart rate and distance in apple health ?

  • So far as I can see, Strava seems like one way to go. I’ve only tested that method for one day and will leave my settings in place to see if it continues to work. As for heart rate and distance, I see both of those in the Aapple Health but those synced from Garmin prior the Strava fix I put in place so I’ll need to test that as well.

  • Ok, thanks for the update. please let us know once you test it another day or so. im away without my watch to even try.

    Thanks

  • so i tried today to use Strava and it updates my rings but now im missing the heart rate data... Why cant either Garmin or Strava fix this ...

  • After two more days of futzing around I think I may have figured it out. My rings for this mornings workout didn’t show up until I put my Apple Watch on and unlocked it. Still have to go through Strava this appears to work for me. Also, I did, in Strava, have to specifically turn on sharing with Apple Health.

Here’s my sharing setup between apps

    Apple Health <—> Strava

    Garmin Connect <—> Strava

    Garmin Connect -X- Apple Health

  • Hi, so your heart rate data is showing up in apple when you link to strava ? For some reason that is missing from mine

  • You’re totally right, I thought I had the HR data but it’s not there either. Yea, it’d be nice if Garmin was able to fix this.

  • is there anyway to get help with this ? any way to contact Garmin ? ive tried so many ways to get in touch with them for a fix to this. It is such an easy fix, all they need is a end date just like they have for the workout data... the other 2 rings in apple health are correct why cant they fix the move / calorie data.

  • Unfortunately, it looks like the Strava work around just died with the latest update. They updated their “Health App and Strava” page yesterday to include the following language:

Please be aware that activities recorded from third-party devices (Garmin, Zwift, etc.) will not sync to Health.”

Garmin, can you please fix this so the calories go over immediately? The dumping of calorie data at 11:59 PM means Apple doesn’t actually tally the calories towards your rings - they can’t be moved retrospectively.
