January Cardio badge

I’ve joined the challenge for the January Cardio badge but after running for over an hour and half today, my progress is still 0 hours.

My activity type was ‘trail running’ but if I retrospectively change it to ‘cardio’, will it affect any of the badges which have had steps/miles added to them today?

  • same here... climbed 80 floors... 20 mins in Zone 5 and 19 Min in Zone 4, but no progress shown on the January Cardio badge... or is it because, for the badge, the activity must be done within a defined workout?

  • I actually took a Cardio Class this morning to get time towards the Cardio badge and Garmin cut off my time. The class was 27 minutes and Garmin gave me a 0.2 towards the Cardio Challenge. I like to see them take a cardio class on New Year’s Day morning.

  • You must log it as the activity type "Cardio" to make it count towards the Cardio challenge.

  • The numbers you see in the challenge page is rounded and/or truncated so you will not get the true value by looking at that page.

0.2 is 12 minutes or up to ~18 minutes if it was truncated so it sounds a bit short if the time for the activity was 27 minutes. 27 minutes should be 0.4-0.5.

Could you share the activity so we can have a look at it?

  • It was logged in under activity type "Cardio".  It was a 27 minute class and like I said, Garmin gave me a 0.2.  Activity Screen Shot to Garmin.  Sadly, I have to write to Garmin on a regular basis as they are constantly cutting my times down.  Strength Training workouts get cut on a regular basis.  If I workout for 35 minutes it is not uncommon for Garmin to give me a "Work Time" of 15 minutes or 0.3.  How they come up with "Work Time" is beyond me especially when I don't rest (as it is a class and we do squats or mountains climbers in between) my heart rate stays elevated for the entire duration of the 35 minute Strength Training Class.  I don't workout for Garmin's benefit ,they can cut my time all they want, I still complete every Challenge.

  • Why contact Garmin for changing the Work time? Just change it yourself by editing the exercises.

All my strength activities got "work time" 0:00 and I still get the full time for the challenges. It would be very interesting to have a look at one of those activities of yours.

Here is a strength activity from yesterday: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/8042314542

18 minutes and no logged exercises. 0.3 logged in the gains challenge.

  • how does one do this for cycling?  when I look at the ACTIVITIES page for the bike ride I want use for the CARDIO the pull down menu below the activity name only list bike related items.  not Yoga, or Strength or Cardio or anything else only bike related such as BMX, INDOOR cycling, CYCLOCROSS, eBike.... etc....  When I select the activity itself the EVENT TYPE selection  below the activity has a whole different list of names and CARDIO is not one of them.  Thanks any insight

  • Cardio is its own type. You can't log it as biking at the same time. If you want to count your ride as Cardio it will not count as biking.

  • yes, that is understood.  So the question posed was.....  how do I make/assign the bike event as a cardio event?

  • You change the activity type from Cycling to Cardio.

This change is to make the ride count for the January Cardio challenge. After the change it will not count for any biking challenge.
