Manual activity not counting towards challenges or badges

Hi

My Garmin watch died last week and while I wait for a replacement to arrive I’ve been adding in manual activities.

Unfortunately the manual activities don’t seem to be counting towards challenges/badges - I’ve tried restarting the app and phone and nothing seems to be working.

Hoping you can help.

Thanks so much

  • Manual activities do not count for badges or challenges. Activities must be logged with a Garmin device.

  • Or an approved app (like zwift)

  • Zwift do not count for challenges or badges. Tacx works.

  • Hi, new user here coming from Fitbit -- looks like imported data won't count towards challenges/badges either? I found some older threads saying this, want to see if that's still the case.

    Thank you

  • That is still the case. Activities must be created with a Garmin device to count for challenges and badges.

  • I can understand not wanting to make it easy to "cheat" by just entering activities that aren't verified, but if that is the concern, then why can't we edit IQ captured activities and have those count toward challenges?  If we can edit distance for regular tracked activities (especially important for me as treadmill distances never match up for me) then I don't see why we shouldn't be able to edit IQ identified activity to include distance as well.  This is very frustrating.

  • For treadmill you should calibrate the distance after all runs when the distance isn't correct. There is a function for that in all watches that support treadmill. Press stop and then select calibrate. After you calibrated the distance the next treadmill run will be more accurate. You should also run outdoors with GPS to make the treadmill run even more accurate.

  • The Move IQ activities can easily be "converted" to real activities that counts for challenges and badges. Just create a 1 second activity on the watch. Then sync. Edit that 1 second activity and set the same date, time and duration as in the Move IQ event and also add the distance.

  • The new climbing challenges do not recognise ascent on the floor climb. It does indicate that this should count towards the challenge but it doesn’t. I’ve done the Angels Landing climb using the floor climb activity but these new badges have been set up differently.

  • What you log in activities is irrelevant for the expeditions. Your watch needs a barometric altimeter. Check the floors climbed in My Day.
