Cannot sign in to Garmin Connect app

I got a new watch today and trying to download the app (ios) and connect it to the watch. I can’t get past the sign in I’ve created a new account and keep getting an error saying ‘sign in attempt failed, sorry something went wrong. Let’s try that again’ does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve tried resetting the password and deleting and reinstalling.

    Is there a reason you created a new account? Normally, this is not necessary and not recommended, unless you're a new Garmin user and don't have an existing account…
