Garmin Connect won't sync on race day with Garmin Coach

I hope everyone is well and healthy. I've been having an issue for my Fenix 5 for quite some time but today I'm really frustrated with it so i decide I'll post about it.

I've been using Garmin Coach for a 5K run training. Oftentimes, when I finished running and hit "download heart rate" on the watch (I have an HRM Pro), upon completing the download and opening the app on my phone (iOS) there was no update. The app simply kept showing me the scheduled run from Garmin coach. I noticed that this happens when the app is open while I'm syncing the watch with the HRM. So I tried to always shut it down before I run to avoid this. I read in this forum that this kept happening to others and that syncing the phone with the cable via Garmin Express would fix the problem - which it did. Until today...

Problem is, after 3 months of training, today I had my race and for whatever reason the watch won't sync. As always, I finished (with the app switched off), downloaded the hear rate data I've been trying to sync the watch with Garmin connect for the last hour and its just not working. It keeps showing me the scheduled run and it won't syn to show me my stats. I restarted the phone and the watch, I deleted and reinstalled the app. I've synced it about 10 times with Garmin express, nothing.

Its extremely frustrating that this happened in this final race, and even more so that the 3-month training can't come to an end.

Has anyone had a similar issue? Any ideas how to fix this? @Garmin?
