Unable to pair Swim2 with iPhone 8, iOS15

I am unable to pair my iPhone with my Garmin Swim2. The Clock no longer appears as a "visible" device for my Bluetooth. I have a Swim2 that until 10/19 was pairing perfectly well with my iPhone 8. However, after installing iOS 15.0 the pairing didn't happen anymore. I contacted Apple and was instructed to return my Swim2 to factory settings and restart it, but the phone still doesn't recognize the watch. I reset my iPhone's network settings and restarted the device, but the clock doesn't show up in Bluetooth either. Finally, I tried to pair my watch with a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone (Android 10), and I managed to pair successfully. I would like to know if you guys would have any suggestions on how to proceed in this case, as so far Apple has not been able to solve my problem.

  • Hello .  If you are still experiencing this issue, please follow steps below:

    1. Open Garmin Connect App.  Click on the "More" option in the bottom right of your screen.  After clicking on "More", select "Garmin Devices".  If you do not see your device listed, good, we do not want it listed.  If you do see it listed, click on the device.  That will take you to the device page, which will have 3 blue dots in the top right of the page.  Click on those blue dots and select "Remove Device".

    1. After removing your device for the Garmin Connect App, I'd like you to go into your iPhone's Settings Application.  Select the option for Bluetooth.  If your device is not listed, good, we do not want it listed.  If you do see it listed, click on the blue 'i' on the right side of the line for that device.  Select "Forget This Device".

Now, open the Garmin Connect App to the ‘My Day’ page and follow the instructions below:

    1. There should be a blue '+' symbol in the top right part of your screen.  If there is not, please continue removing all devices listed in the app when following instructions in step 1 above.  Once you see a blue plus symbol listed, your phone is ready to pair through the Garmin Connect App. Do not use the blue ‘+’ symbol yet, we just want to make sure it is there.

    1. On your watch, press and hold the top left button until it turns off.  Ignore anything you see on the screen.  Just hold the button down until the screen goes blank.  This may take up to 90 seconds.

    1. After letting your watch sit powered off for a few seconds, press and release the top left button to power on the device.

    1. Access your watch’s Menu. (by pressing and holding the ‘Up’ button)

    1. Scroll past Settings --> Select Phone --> Pair Phone.  Immediately after pressing the button to select "Pair Phone", press the blue '+' on your phone in the Garmin Connect App.  If the phone does not recognize your device, you may have to click on "Browse All Compatible Devices" to find it.

    1. You may notice that the phone and watch will not necessarily be on the same step or reflect the same thing while pairing.  Do not be alarmed.  Follow instructions on your phone.  Take your time.  Read everything carefully.  Answer every question during the setup.  Do not tell yourself, "I'll come back to this."  Complete every step of the setup.  The final step will be syncing your device.
  • Hi Kevin,

Thank you very much for your answer, but it didn't work.

My Swim 2 does not appear in the bluetooth menu of either my iPhone and iPad.

The iPhone and iPad recognize other bluetooth devices, and the Swim 2 is recognized by other cell phones. The problem is with the Apple's devices after the recent upgrade to iOS 15.

    Suggestions?

  • I'd recommend continuing to work with the local Garmin support team with whom you have been in contact.
