Garmin Connect sends Fenix 3 HR into reboot loop

Since one of the latest updates of Garmin Connect, my Fenix 3 HR frequently gets into a reboot loop when connected to my iPhone. (Xs Max)

When I disconnect bluetooth, the problem is gone
When I repair after a workout, the sync works, and the watch has no issues for some time.
Sometimes it works for a day, and sometimes for a few hours. Then it starts to reboot again.
Disconnecting bluetooth and repairing it, solves if for another cycle.

When I sync over WIFI, the problem does not show up (so it DOES sync)

I did all kind of garmin suggested steps, including a hard reset.

I did send my crash logs to garmin, but they refuse to work on this still supported, but apparently discontinued watch.
I have been offered a trade in deal that cost wise is significantly above the usual market price ...

Does anyone have a similar problem?
Any other suggestions to diagnose the problem that would not render my watch dysfunctional?
