App won’t let me type in sync code

Forerunner 235, was synced with my old phone, when trying to sync with new one, app has a pop up screen that won’t let me type in the sync code, this apps is honestly useless, half the time it can’t sync, other half the time just says no data to display.

have tired uninstalling, reinstalling, app is updated and watch works fine.

  • won’t let me type in the sync code

Know that sometimes if your old phone is still within Bluetooth range, this can cause issues. But it sounds like something is wrong with the Garmin Connect mobile app if you literally cannot enter in the code when prompted. Here's what I get when connecting my 920XT to the mobile app. Is the keyboard not coming up so you can enter the PIN in the "Bluetooth Pairing Request" as in the images below? Also, if you don't enter the PIN within the timeout period (~30 seconds) the BT connection process will fail.

Could you send a screenshot of this? Just wanted to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

You may have done all this, but take a look at these steps and video

    • Verify that you're running the latest release of Garmin Connect Mobile iOS.
    • In the Garmin Connect app remove Garmin - More > Garmin Devices > select your Garmin device > Remove Device
    • On your iPhone go to Settings > Bluetooth > select your Garmin device > Forget This Device
    • If you have any other mobile devices (phones, tablets) nearby and paired with the Garmin, also do the same there - Settings > Bluetooth > select your Garmin device > Forget This Device
    • Restart iPhone
    • Restart Garmin
    • Place your Garmin in pairing mode  - depends on model, but usually hold MENU > select Pair Phone.
    • Pair using Garmin Connect, not your phone's Bluetooth settings.

If still no joy, might need to contact Garmin Support

  • Hi

phone is stolen, sitting somewhere in mamlodi according to the last location, so that’s not a factor.

the apps finds the watch, connects, then when it’s time to enter the code to sync there is no keyboard and the only input you can do is cancel or pair… obviously pair doesn’t work, and when you cancel it disappears for about 30 seconds and then prompts again to enter code, in a never ending loop until you force the app to close.

  • Verify you're on Garmin Connect for iOS version 4.44, then I suggest contacting Garmin Support. I prefer chat, but phone call also works. Email can work but could take a while to progress through resolution.
