Manual entries will not be accepted. You have to sync with a Garmin device for that activity
Don't trust the watch to start it by itself. I think all the more expensive watches (945, Fenix 6 and more) don't even have the autostart functions so we always have to start the activitites by ourself. I even turned off Move IQ in my watch (945) since it doesn't work that good and is pretty pointless for me.
Move IQ (that is used for the autostart function) doesn't always identify the correct activity type so the logging will be incorrect. It can be fixed in Garmin Connect afterwards.
So actaully - my Garmin Vivomove HR ( I choose it for the look) - all the activities I can start on my watch - i can never get badges....
I know its a poor thing to appreciate - but really keeps my going....
Thanks for advice here from Denmark
I love the badges and challenges and it really keeps me going as well. I plan all my training from the challenges and I also run a web site dedicated to the badges and challenges: https://garminbadges.com :-)
You say you can't get any badges even if you start activities on your watch. Could you post a link to an activity that should've awarded you with a badge so we can have a look at it? Maybe we can see why you didn't get the badge.
The link will look something like this: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/6854869258
For us to be able to see it you also need to make it public. You do that by clicking on the padlock in the upper right corner of the page for the activity.
Each badge got different requirements so you need to read the description carefully and make sure you do everything you need to like using the correct activity type, joining the challenge if it is a badge challenge, doing the full distance, logging the activity with your watch etc.
