Double count for steps

Hi All!

I am wondering if my garmin watch counts my active calories double when logging walking as an activity?

E.G: today I had 10000 steps so it gave me an amount of active calories. However, I also started saving an activity for a normal walk, plus it also starts saving it as activity once I pass 10 minutes of walking. So for 2 km I got 98 active calories.

Are these two already matched or are they added on top of each other and are being counted double?

I am asking because there is a big difference between my active calorie burn in the connect app vs. in MFP. (No, not the problem with negative calorie count etc.)

Garmin shows 471 active calories and MFP only 356 so I am wondering if it’s because of this?
