bug: change activity type unwanted message

Hi, in the most recent issues of GC for iOS there is now a bug when changing activity type. Even if changing within the same activity type I get the message about how changing activity type may remove some data fields.

I understand this if changing a run to a bike for example but surely changing run to 'street run' or to 'trail run' shouldn't do this?

Cheers,

Tom

  • There are cases when changing between different activity types of the same main type can remove some data fields, example mountainbiking and cycling. I haven't compare the data between all activity types and I think that you need to compare the content of the FIT files to see everything that might lost when switching between activity types.

  • But there’s no need for the warning changing running to street running and the web GC doesn’t have this problem. Finally this was only recently introduced so it’s a new problem

  • Maybe it was added as a feature. The use of the word "may" in the message probably indicates that no check has been made. It is a message that is always displayed for that action.

I suggest that report it to Garmin Support.

  • The website now has this superfluous 'warning' message too : it does it unnecessarily on changing from eg Cycling to Road Cycling.
Poor UI design - needs an option to turn it off in your profile
