Garmin Connect with both iPhone and Ipad

Hi - Ive just switched from Fitbit, where I could sync my Fitbit to both my iPhone and my iPad: happy days. Now I'm using a Garmin Fenix paired with my iPhone (all good), but it seems that my iPad Garmin connect app doesn't even know about the Fenix. It shows no devices. I've tried pairing the Fenix to the iPad to no avail, but what really puzzles me is why my Garmin account doesn't hold the Fenix details and synctwo de to iPhone, iPad and Mac all the same. How can Garmin know about the Fenix on my Mac and my iPhone but not on my iPad when I open Garmin Connect? I was hoping that (for the money...) the Garmin would be better than the Fitbit, but because I don't use my phone much, and use my iPad much more, this is a real blow to me.

Yes, your data should all be the same as long as you're using the same Garmin account for all devices. However, you don't need to see the fenix details on both the iPhone and iPad. That is only for synching purposes. Bluetooth will have trouble securely syncing to more than 1 device, especially if they are in the same building. The PIN created when you first synch is dedicated to that connection, probably the connection between the Fenix and the iPhone. Personally, I synch 1 device, but I also have an iPad to view the same data using Garmin Connect.

  • You think you want to pair your watch to your iPad but it’s not something you really want to do, unless you’d rather keep syncing with the iPad instead of your phone. It goes for both Garmin and Fitbit. I use both.

Your accounts are all on the cloud now. Let the services do their job. When somebody sends you an email you (generally) get that email on whatever device you’re on. You syncing to multiple devices is like asking someone to resend you an email because you opened it on your phone but then you want to read it on your iPad.

Also, if you registered your Fenix then it should be there when you log into your Garmin account on the iPad. If your data are there then your device will be there. But why would you even want to use the iPad app? It’s not even designed for the iPad. It’s an iPhone app. And no, Fitbit doesn’t have an iPad app either.
