Garmin Connect + myfitnesspal + temporarily unable to sync?

Hello fellow Garmin users,

I keep getting this message,

Garmin Connect “unable to sync with myfitnesspal it looks like something temporary, so please try again later.”

anybody else experiencing this?  Tried all the usual remedies.....  disconnecting/reconnecting/rebooting/reinstalling, etc.....  2 different softwares, same company, one app you pay for, the other you pay an expensive watch for....... and yet I’m unable to find any customer support?!

  • Same here, not transferring data although it says they are connected in MyFitnessPal. Not getting the error message but when I try to view the ‘connected apps’ under connect/settings it simply closes the app!

  • Yeah, that’s been happening with the Garmin Connect app as well..... when I go to view the connected apps, it simply closes the app.

it seems odd that they would allow this for more than a day or two because they make both apps, and they commonly advertised to Garmin users - it’s part of the appeal.

when it first started acting up I could just go to the webpage (instead of the app) and disconnect and then reconnect everything and it would work for a while but shortly after that......  Garmin started posting,

“unable to sync with myfitnesspal it looks like something temmporary”

.....and there’s been nothing ever since.

  • So....  I’d not given any thought to the fact that I was using my iPad.  I’m thinking Garmin Connect is a little buggy still with iOS 14.4 because what I couldn’t do (no option to reconnect) on the iPad, I COULD do on my iPhone (the option was there when I checked!).

note: I checked on the iPad again after choosing the option in the app to check on connected apps to Garmin, and I believe that triggers the disconnect/sync issue.......

That said, the iPhone app seems to be the go around.  Were you using an iPad or an iPhone when this happened?

  • Yes, I am using iPad and it is running iOS 12.5.1, the latest for my elderly device. Hopefully they will get rid of the bugs soon. It has worked perfectly for over 2 years.
