Edge 810 upload fail to IOS mobile

Hi,

Last couple of days, my Garmin Edge 810 has decided to not sync with the IOS mobile connect app for some recent indoor rides. Was working fine but now just spins and says upload failed.

I've done all of the following to try and resolve but still have the same issue:

I have so far:

Removed the Bluetooth devices from both IOS phone and also Edge unit.

Updated the IOS to the latest version as of 30/01/21

Updated the Garmin Edge unit with any new updates as of 30/01/21

Cleared out older ride data to ensure I have space etc ,so only now have this years rides.

Removed courses no longer needed.

Reconnected / Paired the Edge to the phone and accepted the Pin Pair code (so know its a new connection).

But alas, it sill fails to upload the indoor rides.

I know the Edge is connected as it tells me Download Complete so can see its doing somethings from IOS to the Edge unit.

My only other thought is that could it be that the indoor ride was following a course that was originally outside and converted to a course, but I then used it inside with GPS turned off and told it not to navigate to the start of the course? It recorded fine ,and I can see all the ride information by using Garmin Express to manually sync to the PC and not via the App, but I'd like the sync to work with bluetooth as it has for several years.

Any help appreciated.

I see you've tried the manual upload using Garmin Express, but just to be sure  this is Connect Mobile app issue or if the fit files associated with these failed uploads are corrupt, try a manual upload to Garmin Connect Web.

    • With your Garmin device connected to your computer
    • Open the drive associated with your device.

    • Look for your FIT file under the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder

    • Drag and drop the file on to the Garmin Connect Import Data page

If you get any message other than Import Complete, then there is a problem with the file. In that case, please zip the file and attach it to this thread. We can look at it to see what might be wrong.

If you're on macOS: Steps to Manually Upload Activity Data to Your Garmin Connect Account click on directions for a Mac.

If you called support, they would have you remove all activities in the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder as well as all courses, then test. It's not so much space available as it is quantity of activities and/or a corrupt fit file somewhere. If still not working they would have you do a factory reset. Tools > System > Device Reset > Factory Reset (backup your ACTIVITY folder if you want it in more places than than just on Garmin Connect)

  • Hi,

I have the same problem reported by AlecMcT, and I've done the next passages several times, without positive results:

    - factory reset

    - remove and reinstall Garmin connect app from the phone (iPhone 11)

    - update the firmware of the edge 810

    - update ios

Notice that my edge 810 has worked perfectly for a long time before the issue appears.

    Please, help me!

    Thanks

  • Is it only indoor rides? Have you tried the manual upload? How Do I Manually Upload an Activity I Recorded to Garmin Connect?

At least that would tell you if the issue is due to a corrupt file on the device.

  • It happens for the outdoor and the indoor rides.

Yes, and the manual upload work every time. I have the problem only with the bluetooth uploading. The bluetooth connection work fine, the only problem occurs at the end of the ride, when I try to upload the activity, and the Garmin Edge give me positive response, without uploading the file.

  • Garmin Edge give me positive response, without uploading the file.

Just a thought, but if you're getting the green circle around the picture of your device as it syncs then the circle closes as if it has successfully synced, then your device might be associated with multiple accounts. It frequently happens for example when you reinstall the application, and inadvertently sign up a new account instead of signing into the original one. To make sure that is not the case, follow the instructions from the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing

  • I have one only account on Garmin connect, so I doubt it may be the problem, but I just tried your suggestion, and removed the device from the Garmin connect web, Garmin connect app and Garmin Express, and reconnect only on Garmin connect app. Next time I ride, I'll try to upload from the connect app and I'll tell you if it works.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Ok, I rode the bike and...the problem's still here. I made a video to explicate.

  • I forgot to write that with my Fenix 3 everything works fine

  • I have exactly the same issue. Edge 810 connects to phone via Bluetooth but upload fails.

    any advice @garmin?

  • Seeing the same thing and this has been going on and off for the past 12 months.    I’ve tried for the past 3 hours to upload my ride today with no luck, and I do not have a computer to download the file from the SD card.

I’ve removed the device from my iOS device, I’ve removed my phone from the Garmin Connect APP.  Added everything back, phone and garmin are paired successfully, yet my ride will not upload.  If I can’t show off my accomplishments to Garmin Connect or Strava, this is useless!!  HELP. And YES, I have the latest iOS update on my iPHone XS and have the latest version of Garmin Connect.   I tried on my iPad as well and same error!  Do I need to buy a Wahoo????
