Forerunner 45 watch loses connection every time I close Garmin Connect app on iPhone

Is this normal? I don't know if my watch is faulty or if I need to have the Garmin app open all the time to keep the bluetooth connection to my watch.

When it does disconnect it does not automatically re-connect and I have to completely re-pair!

I now have the same problem after years use without that problem. I have a Forerunner 935 and I started to have problems like you describe it. I think it must be a bug in the newest iOS (I’m running 14.4 on iPhone. I don’t know if you’re running it on android?). How ever the connection reconnects when I open the Connect app again. Therefore I just never close the app anymore. It is just really frustrating when it used to work, even when the app was force-closed.
