Inaccurate Distances

I went on 3hr/9mile walk at the weekend.

The duration, the route, the steps recorded all seem reasonable, but my Forerunner has recorded the distance as 300kms. What on earth is wrong with this thing, I’ve only had it a couple of weeks!

  • Can you post a link to your activity and make it public so we can have a look at it?

It sounds like the GPS got some erronous readings but 300 km is a lot!

Check out my walking activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday

  • Something very odd happens right at the start. In the first lap you travel 283,37 km in the time 0:00,1.

My best guess is that you started the activity before you had the green GPS signal and something weird happened. It shouldn't get that result. I do that often when I go on walks without any similar issues.

I created a course from your activity, exported the GPX and uploaded it to Garmin Connect again and the distance for the GPX is 17,2 km. So, it seems that the logged track is correct.

To fix the issue with this activity I would just trim off the start by 1 second or so and you should be fine.
