Former Member, corrupt fit files seems to be a common issue on the Forerunner 35.
The issue in this case was one data record with an unexpected big change of distance value, which I removed.

Unzip the file then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page.
Repaired using Fit File Repair Tool.
Forerunner models 25, 30, and 35, with their limited storage capacity, seem to be susceptible to these problems. It's suggested to regularly clean out the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder on the device using these directions: Removing Recorded Activities to Free Up Space on a Garmin Fitness Device
