Connect 4.37 no longer syncing with with Apple Health.

This morning (I’m in Europe), 13. Nov 2020, Garmin Connect had updated to v4.37 overnight.

Now Connect will sync with my Approach S60 and my Index Smart Scale, but not with Apple Health - and what’s more, all the previous data for the last few years have been deleted from Apple Health as well. The data is in Connect, but not in Health.

iOS version 14.1

    Hello all,

I have called France Garmin support few days ago, and they surprisingly were not aware of our issue of lost data older than 30 days !!!

So I shoud;recommend that all of us call them and describe our loss (in my case I have lost more than 4,500,000 steps since 2017 !!!).

This may push them to fix this issue.

That's strange because I told them already long time ago...

  • Dear Romain, call center operator is an employee that collect calls by users, he don’t know how garmin system works.

I just explain, garmin changed their access rules to their API, since 2016, limits transfer data to third party app to last 30 days.

So, if you start a new sync (after 2016) you get only last 30 days.

this is not issue for garmin, for them it’s their policy IT.

they have to change their rules, otherwise no possible to recover your history in other app.

garmin wants this? I don’t think

    Hello Miki73e,

I've seen your message, I told the guy your explanation.

But Garmin deleted all my data from Health App without my consent, these data were no more Garmin data, but my data whatever the source is. And they can not do that.

Moreover, they claim on tehir website a great integration with Apple Health.

So they have to sync back everything since the begining (2017 as far as I'm concerned), otherwise I'm going to sue them and ask 1$ per lost step Slight smile

    Don't you agree ?

I'm experiencing the same issue. Around the time of updating to iOS 14.2, I lost the entire history of my GC data in the Apple Health app.

First, Apple Support said it was Garmin. Then Garmin Support told me it was Apple's fault. Then I've had 2 hours of support calls with Apple engineers who insist it's on Garmin. So it's just two companies pointing fingers at each other, and meanwhile I've lost a year's worth of data.

Oddly, everything since has worked fine.

  • I’m pretty sure it’s intentional. Garmin doesn’t want you keeping ‘your’ data elsewhere because if you did you might leave......

  • Supposedly they are working with Apple to restore the data but getting answers out of Garmin is very slow and any time there's a problem with syncing data the default position seems to be it's a problem with Apple Health - even when it's obvious that it's an update to their app that caused the problem......

  • it is much more mundane than you think,
there is no problem that requires the effort of engineers.
Do you know how synchronization works?
An app requests access to data of another app, the latter grants
authorization so as to allow the former to read the data.
Once the synchronization is established you can "close" the permission,
delete the data, or restore any time you prefer, and each time all
the data will upload in the second app.
So, why then did Garmin and Apple Health no longer synchronize after the accident occurred?
Because Garmin authorizes access from the last 30 days.
You can try simply by synchronizing Garmin with other apps other than Apple health
and so you will understand once and for all that the problem is not apple health.
Garmin must not work with apple to fix, they simply has to change their rules access to own data !!!!
