Connect 4.37 no longer syncing with with Apple Health.

This morning (I’m in Europe), 13. Nov 2020, Garmin Connect had updated to v4.37 overnight.

Now Connect will sync with my Approach S60 and my Index Smart Scale, but not with Apple Health - and what’s more, all the previous data for the last few years have been deleted from Apple Health as well. The data is in Connect, but not in Health.

iOS version 14.1

  • Ok, if it’s normal for you that the data in apple health gets deleted by the garmin connect app every now and then and then synced again with only one (sliding) month each time, then there is definitely nothing to discuss.

  • I have same problem.  After I finished my run, the workout and steps data synced to Apple Health briefly.  Then after a while those data are wiped again.

  • Very interesting! I got the problem for the first time 10 days ago. It look like GC is always updating only for the last month. But ... it use to keep the old data without deleting data before that month. If you get the bug, it delete all the data. So, when the bug is fixed, it update only the last month as usual. There must be a fix for that so we can update the data before that month.

  • You read what I write????

FOR US NOT NORMAL (US SO ALSO FOR ME NOT NORMAL) BUT FOR GARMIN IS NORMAL.

I explaine that’s it from 12 months, wake up

  • I’m searching how load my history data but until now I did’nt find solution.

This is no good. It means that our data is not our property, but of Garmin.

Garmin must give the opportunity to download my history!!!!

Then I can upload where I want

how are you going to import the data to Health?

I guess there is open market for sync tool, since Strava has also some issues with Health compatibility (multiple entry's for single activity).

  • It refer to only activities... it’s easy

when I talk about data I refer steps, calories. Sleep, hr....

I didn’t find anything to export this data

  • I've had a call with my lawyer this weekend and will be meeting with him today. Since Garmin advertises Apple Health integration, and the fact that it deleted my data without my acknowledgement, it falls under consumer protection laws in the European Union. I suggest you guys do the same and also leave an appropriate review on the appstore, as now the app sits comfortably at the 4.8* rating.

  • Thanks alexbartis

I’m happy that I am no longer alone. A year ago no one gave any importance to what I had discovered: switching off and on the sync, it only started from the last month.

It has been a long time since Garmin no longer supports IOS Health:

    1) it’s not possible to sync starting before last month

    2) the activities loaded in IOS Health don’t show the route map (if you try to use third-party apps that bridge between Garmin and Apple - eg rungap - they export also route map, so it’s Garmin doesn’t make this)

    3) Field “distance run/walk” report wrong data (sum run distance with run steps, that instead already include run distance)

I believe that opening post for single problem does not help us to see the real problem, that is the lack of integration with IOS and even more it is not acceptable that it is not possible to export MY data where I want.

Garmin could make what wants but they have to give me my personal data!!!!

  • So it seems that Garmin Connect has updated to a version 4.37.1.5 for me overnight... At this point, the behaviour introduced by 4.37.0.28 (deletion of Apple Health entries) **appears** to have been fixed...

Going by past behaviour, this seems to have been a lightning fast response to this issue but at least its a step in the right direction.

I still only have the last 2 months worth of data from Garmin Connect but I've made peace with the fact that I'd lost the data (mostly because I've only had my ForeRunner watch for a few months).

Can anyone else confirm that the deletion of Apple Health entries by the iOS Garmin Connect app no longer happens with version 4.37.1.5 ?
