Remove a card that suddenly showed up on My Day

As of yesterday I now have a "Walking" Card showing up in My Day that I don't want......I do not track this as an important activity.....if I want to see my walking stats I know perfectly well how to do so,  so I don't want it showing up on "My Day", but it's there.

I went to 'Edit My Day' but it does not show up as a visible card nor a hidden card, so I can't remove it.  By tapping on "expand" I could swipe it out of view temporarily, but it comes back, and it isn't removable from my "Yesterday" or "Last 7 Days".

How do I get rid of this?  And why is Garmin forcing a new change on users without some setting to control it?

  • Hi Former Member, you're correct in that there is no walking card. As far as I can recall, there has never been a card for a specific type of activity. If you have "Yesterday's Statistics" or "Last 7 Days' Statistics" toggled on and you happened to have done a walking activity during that period, then you would see that on your "My Day" screen.

This is new and obnoxious, it just started yesterday and it shows up as a large fully expanded card even though I have the collapsed view set.  I walk most days but don't care about tracking it so it was never set as an activity to be shown on My Day...... So you're saying that in order to get rid of it, I have to give up also seeing my (collapsed) Yesterday and Last 7 Days statistics?  That seems odd and arbitrary, I do like seeing how my current day compares to my previous day for the statistics I do want to track (just not walking).

  • Could you post a screenshot of that card so we can see what it looks like?

My best guess is that you have logged a walking activity automatically. There are some watches that starts activities automatically when they detect specific moving patterns.

Thank you e7andy, I appreciate any help.....however I've been wearing my Vivosmart 4 for many months and walk often, I've just never tracked it in "My Day" because I don't really care about it, I only have this thing to monitor my pulse/ox at night, which I'm not sure I trust because it's so far off on my sleep as to be laughable.  It has always shown me my total steps in My Day which was fine, but now has this large "Walking" card (in addition to 'steps') that never appeared before yesterday.  I dismissed the huge ugly green one at the top by clicking on "Expand", then swiping left.  If I get out and walk, it comes back.  Right now it's been dismissed, but you can see a slightly smaller version in grey on my "Yesterday" in this screenshot.  The time/pace etc. is what accumulated *after* the third time I dismissed it (I haven't yet walked today but I anticipate if I do, it will come back).  I just really don't want it, it takes up space for something I care nothing about.

  • You have logged an activity. Click the activity and delete it if you don't want it.

Since it comes back I guess that you got automatic activities turned on for your watch. Open the settings in the app and look for that setting. It is probably under Activity tracking and called something like Auto Activity Start.

Hello again e7andy....actually I don't.  I don't have that activity (tracking) turned on, nor is any auto activity start enabled, nor is it set to be displayed as a card in My Day.  BUT, since swiping it away for the third time on Sunday, it hasn't *yet* come back.....of course it's early in the day and week, I generally get out for a long walk on Saturdays with my mom, so we'll see if it comes back.  It showed up spontaneously on Saturday (2 days ago) so maybe it gets triggered by a certain distance or pace, but if so I can't find the setting to disable it, and I have literally been all through every possible setting on both the device and the App.   SO for now it appears there is no answer or solution until it (or if) it comes back and I have a chance to dig in further.

That said, I thank you for your efforts to help, it's much appreciated!!

Let's hope not. Fingers crossed My thought was that  had the right idea with the "Auto Activity Start" kicking in

I just looked this up on the Garmin Connect app help page...

Open the Garmin Connect app > select More (bottom right) > Select Garmin Devices > Select your device > Select Activity Tracking > Locate and disable "Auto Activity Start" > Select the back arrow at the top left of the screen to back out and save settings > sync your device

Thank you seilogramp......that was my first thought too.....it is (and was) definitely toggled off....perhaps when I was walking I missed a 'do you want to auto start tracking your walk?' notification while my phone was bumping around in my day pack (that basically just holds my phone, a water bottle, and my car keys)......if it comes back I'll repost, otherwise I'll just assume that swiping it away took care of the (temporary) problem.

  • You can also click the activity and delete it. Now you probably have a couple of Walking activities logged.

Hmmmm......I think perhaps I had not gone deep enough to find that option to delete it....when it was appearing in My Day and I tapped on it, it just showed me a bit more detail with pretty charts, etc. ...but your comment made me try going further and when I found and tapped on another link at the very bottom of the pretty graphics that just said "walking" and then on the 3-dot icon at the top.....the lo and behold I found an option to 'delete the activity'.....so THANK YOU for getting me to explore it further.  I do wish Garmin could make their App easier to navigate and use, I spent a huge amount of time (much more than this trivial problem deserved) trying to figure this out.....and I'm a programmer and software developer myself so no stranger to UI issues!   VERY appreciative of your help, e7andy!!!
