import .fit files of recorded activities by sharing through Copy to Connect on mobile

Please make it so we can import .fit files of recorded activities by sharing through Copy to Connect on mobile.

It's a giant pain to have to use a desktop to download and then upload a .fit file in a browser when it could be accomplished with one share click on the phone. Thanks!

Alternatively, enable Connect on a mobile browser to import these files. As is, Connect on Web in a mobile browser when browsing for files doesn't see .fit, .tcx, or .gpx files as as valid to select.

Importing Activities through Garmin Connect Web works fine on my Android. If your browser or file manager does not allow you to select FIT (or other) files, check out their settings, or use an alternative app. I am using Google Chrome and Samsung's native My Files file manager. I do not have any problems importing activities on the phone.

I guess it's only an issue on iOS then. I've tried four different browsers and it's the same on all of them, and there's no settings to be changed or any way to use a third-party file browser for this. Thanks for the reply, though.

In that case you better post your query to the GCM iOS forum. This one is for Android. On the iOS forum, people will be able to assist you better.

  • Moved thread to iOS forum.

  • Can we get this fixed for iOS please??

iOS has limitations, but I was able to import onto Garmin Connect using Chrome browser and importing the FIT file from iCloud. Not very elegant, but it worked for me.

  • Can you confirm this still works for you? I’ve tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox and none of them work for me. iPhone 12 iOS 14.4.2.
    anyone else having success?

  • Can you confirm this still works for you?

Yes. Just checked again and it still works. Like I said, it's not a simple process. You have to use the web version (not the app) to complete this process.

  • yeah. Still not working for me in Safari, same problem as the original post. What browser are you using? And where is your .fit file located? I'm using the HealthFit app, which saves to its folder in my iCloud Drive, but neither the .fit nor .gpx files there are selectable from the Browse option on the import-data page on connect.garmin.com

I'm using Chrome, then "export original" then download, open in "save to files" folder to save the zipped fit file. Use an unzipping app to unzip the file. So it can be imported back to Garmin Connect Web.
