NO devices can connect after update

I got a new edge 1030 plus, it said connect needed updating to pair, so i updated connect, I noticed my forerunner 945 wasnt connected but carried on setting up the edge 1030+., the process seems to complete, in fact it says its "setup complete!", then immediately shows an error saying "It looks like something went wrong during setup, make sure your edge 1030 plus device displays PAIR, and retry"

If you do as it says and step the device back and get it into pairing mode again, hit retry it will fail, as the device both BLE and BT have paired and are in MY DEVICES, so connect cant find them.

I have tried pretty much every combination of steps, the final and version being as follows, which is a combination of the steps from garmin support and some extra belt and braces

Updated edge 1030+ using garmin express

Delete edge 1030+ from garmin account using web app.

wiped phone(iPhone pro 11)

turned of home wifi(which is ridiculous, but garmin insisted)

reset edge 1030+ to factory(firmware stays updated of course)

restored phone, downloaded Connect

go through usual device adding procedure in garmin connect.

None of these steps makes a bit of difference, the same is true for either my edge or forerunner, which are both basically useless now.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

This sounds extreme. Normally you'd just need to go into Bluetooth settings and "forget" any of your Garmin devices.

  • Assuming you have the latest GC Mobile for iOS (new version came out last week). I've found this video to be helpful. In most cases it's a matter of unpairing/pairing in the specific sequence. Mainly unpairing from the GC App, "forgetting" the device in iOS Bluetooth settings, restarting phone and Garmin devices. Manually putting your Garmin device in BT pairing mode. Then pairing using the GC app only, and not using iOS Bluetooth settings.

I understand that i need to remove paired devices, I have done that, I have spoken to and followed exactly the advice step by step from Garmin, with no change in behaviour. To prove (mostly to myself) I hadnt missed anything i tried it with the edge factory reset and my phone wiped, no chance of any residual BLE or BT connection on a fresh iOS install and a reset edge, but still the problem is exactly the same, with all garmin devices. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion beyond the standard steps.

    Thanks

Did you get an answer for this? I have the exact same problem... I can't connect since September 1st to any of my devices... It won't sync... it might get connected to bluetooth for notifications but it gets stuck in the middle of the Garmin Connect pairing. I've tried everything possible... went through all steps... but it won't work. I'm starting to get sick of Garmin after the past 2 days trying to make this work. My Garmin Watch and Edge, both won't pair with GC.

  • Probably best to contact Garmin support if you've tried everything. https://support.garmin.com

I just bought garmin instinct solar 3 days ago and have same issue here.

I have tried using garmin connect in ios and android as well and both have pairing error in the middle of process

My garmin instinct solar bought in Indonesia so i think its APAC version and try connect it with garmin express but it doesnt detect my devices
