From what I've been reading, Garmin Connect should be able to read from iOS Health but I can't get it to work.
Garmin Connect is showing up as Data Source under Steps but not as an app allowed to read.
Am I missing something?

I haven't tested it but it might be possible to import some data.
Import page: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data
It says "Fitbit® body or activity data (.xls, .xlsx or .csv format). Learn More"
Convert your data to the correct format and then you can import at least some of it.
DC Rainmaker did a test in 2016, but it seems like the steps didn't import. It was 4 years ago so it might have changed.

It's more that Garmin won't read the data, it's Garmin's choice not to.
I've looked for a solution, but never found one. I only use my watch for cycling or hiking. Otherwise, vastly prefer the apple watch day to day.
Due to other garmin issues (https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-mobile-ios/214861/apple-health-displays-double-the-calories-and-steps-after-physical-activity) I'm seriously debating not even using the Garmin watch anymore.
