I currently do this with an iPad and and android phone. You just have to login to the app with your own Garmin account credentials. Assuming your wife is not also using the app on her phone with her own credentials.

Confirmed this is correct. When you setup pairing to a device it displays a PIN, which locks in the connection between the watch and the one mobile device.
