Garmin coach - Duration/length of each training

Hello,

I'm on my second training coach plan, and struggle to plan most of my trainings. Few of them are simple, like run 11k moderate pace. That I can do, and I can instantly plan how long the training will take, and what route to run. But most of the trainings are composed of multiple training elements; do this for 45 sec, then rest 30 sec, repeat 8 times, then do this for 1 minute, repeat 5 times, then run 800m fast, rest, repeat 4 times etc. This means I have to do the middle school math every time, before I try to fit the training into my schedule, and find a route the fits the purpose.

Is there anywhere I can directly see the estimated duration and/or length of the training pass? If not, this should be rather easy to implement, as the app might as well do the math up front.

  • I have exactly the same question.

Surely at the top of each workout should be an estimated total duration?

  • Actually I see that it's visible in the web version of Garmin connect.

On Garmin Connect iOS it is visible under certain circumstances.  Only place I can see it is looking at the Garmin coach page summary.  Then it's shown.  But via the calendar, or as soon as you've clicked on the details, the overall time is hidden.

On the watch I don't see a summary at all.

Pretty bad and inconsistent design, and not very helpful for quickly knowing what your workout durations are, especially if you live mainly in iOS or watch (like me).

  • replying to myself - I was wrong. The totals only show up if there’s no repeats. Or it’s random.
none of my next repeated workouts have total times. On any platform.

I have to say this is pretty amateurish design.

  • Totally agree. This is super annoying.

  • Yeah, same on Android. No idea how to plan for the training without knowing total time. We can complain here, but the forum is just so Garmin can not do any support and hope we figure things out for ourselves. And then give up. Same with all other glaring garmin issues. Oh well. Only attention I've been able to get is to "@" a moderator, but good luck finding the right one.

  • Still an issue on all platforms :-(

You should fix this Garmin: we need an "Estimated total duration" feature for training plans in Garmin Connect...

  • For a suggestion of workout, you may want to look back at your history of workouts.  Look for acute loads.  Pick a workout that will be in about the about same acute load that will keep you on track for current trend.  This is especially helpful when you are in a progressive block of training.   You will see consistent PRODUCTIVE STATUS and ABOVE TARGETS.  Notice also your daily and trends of HR, Stress, and HRV.  Positive signs means keep going with progress. Any spikes or trends in wrong direction means your out of balance.  With all the feedback from metrics, it's more a matter of navigating with perfect workouts to discover high performance gains and fitness.

  • Same problem on my side, surely easy for them to add a total estimated time so you know how much time to set aside for it. It's pretty inconvenient...Garmin, can you fix this? should not be that hard to add am sure.
