Garmin pay says my card/bank is not supported but my bank (ANZ) assures me they are

ANZ advertises the fact they support Garmin pay and when speaking to them say my card should work. Yet the Garmin app says otherwise. Why is there this disconnect between the two? How do I upload my card and get it to work for contactless payment?
