Garmin Forerunner 35, Garmin connect software update was completed & now watch won't synch

Hello (Similar to those who've reported this before)

I believe the garmin connect phone app was updated yesterday (07 April 2020) & since then I cannot synch. I have tried the following:

1) manual upload by connect garmin to my PC and I get the following error message "We don't support the file you tried to import"

2) Unpairing and repairing the device from my garmin software AND bluetooth "connected devices" 

Watch worked fine on Monday, so I am puzzled and it's driving me crazy as I ran a new route and I want to see the map of it.
