My steps keep disappearing all day. What’s up with the app?

My steps keep disappearing all day. Had 3000 went for a 7k run and is showed 655 steps total. Walked around and cleared 10000 but now it’s back to 6960 and went back to 7250 and now again back down to 6960. What’s wrong with the app today?
