Too much negativity from the training status

Too much negativity from the training status, it could be useful, but does not work well. I have to switch it off.

  • What parts do you dislike? I like the training status widget, keeps me informed about the level of my training, focus areas and makes me more inclined to want to work towards a positive status. I’m unproductive at the moment and have a low aerobic shortage and plan on working on these areas today.

I love Garmin Connect, I’ve been using Garmin for decades now. The training status feature is a great idea, I’ve been using it since it came out, I just think the implementation failed.

The logic is too fast on pulling the trigger on Unproductive and Overachieving, the VO2 age estimate gives me a ridiculous figure (hint, discouraging when you struggle the most, it gets old after a while, no matter how right it may be.) Also, I suspect your confidence level is low at extremes, the sample may be biased to start with (restricted to users, as opposed to all population), so I question the need to communicate any negative news within a popular feature, where it’s in your face every time you check in. Changes in biological age estimates will likely take months to change, the value of having it within a daily feature is limited.
