Apple Health displays double the calories and steps after physical activity.

Hello

after the latest update of Garmin Connect, Apple health displays the double of calories and steps after physical activity (e.g. running).
The values are correct in Garmin Connect, but if I open Health and ask to visualize the source data, I see that Garmin Connect is sending a packet with twice the value. As it was counting the calories, steps, and distance from running on top of the running itself.

Could you please check it?

Bruno

i use a Vivoactive 3, but I don’t think that the issue comes from the watch.

  • @dejanh Interestingly, I swap between a Withings ScanWatch and multiple Garmins, including a F6 Pro, and the Withings also has major issues working well with Apple Health. Even more frustratingly, Withings allows Apple Health (AH) to write, as well as read, Health Mate (Withings version of Connect) date. I assumed (wrongly! as it turns out) that Apple Health would push Garmin data back to Health Mate; however, it seems all these companies are up to their own tricks to keep you working within their environment and Health Mate actually deletes Garmin data from AH! Crazy and frustrating! So, if I do a work out using my Fenix and sync to AH and then later sync my Withings Watch, Withings Health Mate will delete the Gamin data from Apple Health!

It feels like they are all being protectionist idiots and just giving the customer a headache.

We are in December 2020 now and the same issue is still NOT fixed. Is this forum only for customers or some people from Garmin actually read some of these issues and try to fix them for customer satisfaction?

  • Is this forum only for customers

That's correct. This is more of a user-to-user help forum. Although sometimes Garmin staff will respond to forum posts, they usually do so in the device forums. For reporting issues to Garmin, best to use the Garmin Support Center.

  • Garmin,

How can this still be a problem a year later and have no response from you?

  • I gave up. They say it's apple's fault, but the other app I use for fitness, peloton, does not have this issue..

  • Well maybe at this point if we all move this conversation to Twitter and tag them, and Apple, and keep repeating there publicly...we’ll have a better chance to get a solution.

  • Hi there! Here is an article regarding 3rd party apps! If you have any other questions please let me know! Data From My Activity Does Not Match Between Garmin and Third-Party Site

  • Hi Amber,

Thanks for the article, but it's not relevant to this issue.  This issue has been explained at exhaustion to Garmin, and garmin doesn't seem to care.

The issue is due to garmin posting the same data over and over.  Here's a really recent example.. the connect app posted the same workout 7 times to apple health.  I don't have this issue with the peloton app, just the garmin app.

Note I've had this issue across multiple iphones as well, it's *not* something that just started to happen.

  • I am sorry for the confusion, we have an open ticket with activities duplicating themselves in Apple Health. Once we have a resolution, I will post on this thread with more information.
  • If it helps, there’s another thread w/ some recent feedback; tldr; the duplicates seem to be limited to “workouts”. All other fields are writing from GC > AH ok.
