I send this question to the official support, but just like another question I had five days ago the people at Garmin just printed it out and used it as toilet paper.
A few hours ago I was busy browsing the web (not Garmin Connect, mind you) wiihit my Venu on my wrist and my iPhone 8 on the table. Suddenly I felt the buzz of a notification and to my surprise I read that Spotify just got installed (!).
I did actually explicetely remove all music related apps and widgets from the Venu a few minutes after opening the box as I see no use for that, I liked the Venu for a few reasons like being lighteweight, having a barometer and a few training options that I found nifty such as being able to show maps in colour.
Obviously, as an IT guy myself I am anything but thrilled of the possibility of software installing itself in my devices. It doesn't matter if the sofware is good, bad or ugly, I do not want stuff to install itself. Not on my Venu, not on my iPhone, not on my laptop. Period.
And as bad things never come alone I found another annoyance, this time less obviously dangerous: Deinstalling an app or wirdget from the Garmin Connect iOS app requires you to hit the "remove" link twice: you tap it once and get back to the previous screen where the app is still shown as installed. Tap it twice and then it's finally gone.
I have a few more little grievances with the app and the device, so much so that I am repenting about selling my Forerunner 735XT to buy a Venu.
But the worst is the absolute lack of response from the Garmin Helpdesk. The SLA of 2 or 3 days that they claim is not honoured, I still have a question open form 5 days ago with no answer (the day after I bought the Venu).
Well, at least here I can vent some steam. The problem is that the pressure is becoming too high and I am already thinking on returning the device and get myself something that at least works (did I said it was irresponsive and I have to click the button to show the watch?)
