Error setting up Garmin Pay on Venu

Since two days I have a Garmin Venu.

When I try to set up Garmin Pay I get an error in the Connect app on my iPhone8: "Smartwatch is not connected".
This is strange, because the watch is connected and is sending and updating information with the app perfectly.

I've restarted my watch, I've reinstalled the app, but did didn't solve the issue.

What to do?
